BLUE TEAM                   vs         ORANGE TEAM
Harrison (Splash-o-matic)          Steph (E-liter 3k)
Callee (Dynamo Roller)              Donovan (Splattershot Pro)
Dalton (Kelp Splatterscope)       Allie (Tentatek Splattershot)
Eella (Tentatek Splattershot)      Fen (Splattershot Pro)

Callee ran into the locker room, beaming at her team.  “This is going to be the best match ever!” she exclaimed to the three in front of her.  Harrison was grabbing the ink cartridge for his hair as she ran in.  With a huff, he headed toward the showers to let the ink settle in.  He didn’t need to really ink his tentahair though; he was on the Blue team with blue hair.  He just liked how it felt to let the ink settle (not to mention, it made his tentahair look sparkly and gave him an excuse to clean it afterwards).  He’d never tell anyone this though; it just wasn’t his style.

He passed by his other two team members: Dalton and a new friend to himself and Callee, Eella.  Although the two wouldn’t admit it, Harrison and Callee both saw a connection between the two.  They were nearly inseparable and were always on the same team.  They had no color preference but when they worked together, they were unbeatable.  Dalton was gently rubbing the ink into Eella’s tentahair as Harrison turned the corner to the showers.  He could tell Eella’s tentahair was sensitive from how she was blushing and stuttering.

Harrison paid no mind to Callee as she gushed about how they would go about taking down her team, as much as she wouldn’t want to.  He could hear into the conversation, bit by bit, as he coated his tentahair.

“Dalton, you’re going to be heading to high ground.  Make sure that Harrison and Eella can get to the back section.  If we can hold down the back, our base and the middle, we have a shot for gold.  Eella, make sure you use those suction bombs on the walls to surprise the enemy.  Their fuse only lasts for a little bit but it’s enough to sometimes splat an enemy when they come to get you,” Callee was saying.  Harrison heard his part and knew his part well.  In Saltspray Rig, his job was to splat the enemies when they came up close and to watch everyone’s back.  He knew in Saltspray Rig, he was more bound to be splatted than anyone else if he played his part right.  He might get a lot of splats but he would also be splatted.

Harrison knew that Callee would take care of inking anything that wasn’t substantially covered by blue or if it was substantially covered by orange.  He knew he’d have the best shot if he went toward the section between the two bases and covered that.  He would cover it before toward the back section with hopes that Callee would have the area covered toward the middle section for him.  He had no doubts with her but with Dalton and Eella, he wasn’t too sure.

“I think we’re ready then,” Dalton replied, as he stood up, pulling his Kelp Splatterscope around his shoulders and torso.  Eella nodded as she pulled her Tentatek Splattershot to her side.

“Ready and able and rearing to go,” Eella replied with a glimpse at her pearly whites.  Harrison finished his hair before going to his locker and grabbing his Splash-o-matic.  As soon as he held it, his grip tightened as his body knew what his mind did.

“Let’s go then,” Harrison said dryly.  He saw Callee give him a smile as she went to grab her Dynamo Roller.  As Callee led the way out in a skip, Harrison followed with a slower pace, allowing Dalton and Eella to walk ahead.  In front of them was the tea kettle where they would shoot through to the map the Turf War was held on.  He knew it was quite a distance to travel but it would be quieter than walking to Blackbelly Skatepark.  Harrison preferred the quiet to the rowdy bunch that had first entered.

Standing on the tea kettle, Harrison pumped his Shooter, readying for the attack when they would pop out the other side.  An alarm sounded and the three Inklings ahead of him jumped and squided into the kettle.  Harrison followed shortly after, cruising through the pipes toward the rig.  He enjoyed the time as he could, knowing it would soon be loud as the Turf War began.

After a while, the team slowed to a stop, a tea kettle above them.  Below them, the grate pushed them up through to the surface.  Harrison saw the bright clear sky and could hear the seagulls chirping.  He felt the sea-salt wind rush through him and he shivered from it.  Another siren rang out and the Blue team shifted to a kid.

“All ready to go, guys?  This is your last moment to back out,” Callee chided as she glanced back.

“They can’t leave now though.  They’re already in the game,” Harrison replied, knowing she was going for a joke of some kind.

“I know!  They can’t leave!  It’s the best part!” Callee laughed before she splatted her roller as the buzzer rang to start.  Dalton shot a Charger, lasting to the corner of the pathway ahead of them.  Eella followed it and started spraying, allowing easy quick firing action for her and Dalton to get to where they needed quickly.  Harrison followed them before seeing Callee rolling her way down the pathway.  He turned to the right and started splatting a small pathway to the middle section between the teams.  Once he got to the section, he immediately threw two suction bombs in different corners before hiding in his ink.

When the two bombs exploded, he started raining down blue ink before jumping to cover more area.  He threw suction bombs around the area and soon enough, one of the opposing members was trying to cover the ground.  Looking up, Harrison saw a green-eyed Splattershot Pro user.  The instant the orange team member saw him, it was too late.  With a gasp and a cry, the user was splatted by three quick shots.  Harrison felt a little bad for the kid but as he started his way back up toward the middle area, he could hear another member drop down from above to cover what he’d just done.

With a growl, he turned around and saw Donovan, happily splatting his blue ink away.  Harrison quickly squided his way up the middle boxes to surprise Donovan.  Donovan wasn’t able to cover too much area before Harrison splatted him easily.

“What?!” Donovan cried out as he saw Harrison.  With a chuckle, Harrison waved with a smirk.  He recovered the area quickly and worked his way back up.  He could see that Callee was rather busy in her covering the area but she’d done a great job.  Ahead of him, he could hear Dalton splatting the enemy team, hearing the cries.  Before he followed more of the ink, he turned back and could see the green-eyed Splattershot Pro used again, trying to cover his area in orange.  With a groan, Harrison quickly followed back…

But surprisingly, the green-eyed Inkling boy gasped before Harrison had arrived and he started shooting at where Harrison was exactly.  Befuddled and taken aback, Harrison activated his Bomb Rush, his eyes glowing white and his tentahair looking as though it was on fire.  Harrison threw as many of his suction bombs as he could but he only managed to throw five of them before he was splatted.  The Splattershot Pro user was surprised and happily jumped for joy…before he was splatted by Harrison’s suction bombs.

Harrison chuckled as he watched it, completely astounded by the green-eyed boy and how he’d gotten excited from one kill and hadn’t watched for his bombs.  Once Harrison spawned back to his base, he squided his way back to the area, noting it was covered in mostly blue.  He was happy with it as he headed toward the middle section.  Callee was definitely busy as he saw all the walls and the floors covered in blue ink; it took a great Roller to know what areas would need to be covered.

Harrison noted that some of the walls were streaked in lines as though shot by a Charger.  He’d talk to Dalton about it later, seeing as the majority of where Dalton was shooting from was covered by lines of blue ink.  Out in the center of the map, it was blue vs orange.  Dalton and Eella were trying to take out the orange team and at the very back of the rig, Callee was just heading over to cover the floor in blue.

“Go, Callee!  We got this covered,” Eella was telling her as she aimed up to where another Charger was.  From further away, Harrison could tell the other team’s Charger was Steph.  With a chuckle, he wasn’t sure if it was going to be a battle against the Chargers, knowing Steph and Dalton had a competition to see who was better.  Donovan managed to sneak up behind Eella though, but as soon as she was splatted, the area was covered in blue ink from her quick thinking of throwing down a suction bomb.  Dalton splatted the blue Inkling boy quickly but was splatted himself by Steph.

Taking quick action, Harrison aimed and threw a suction bomb up at where Steph was.  She knew him well though and swam back but not before he threw another one.  As she stayed back, Harrison splatted as much ink as he could at the base and where she would stand, hoping to buy some time for Dalton and Eella to return.  Just as he thought it and when the buzzer rang for a minute left, Eella landed behind him.

“Thanks,” she said a bit breathless as she started to shoot up toward Steph again.  In a few shots, she splatted Steph as Harrison heard her cry.  Looking up toward their Charger side, Harrison saw Dalton appear again and with a quick nod, Harrison swam toward the back.  He could see that Callee was very busy.  He knew the middle section would be covered but he knew what wouldn’t be.

As he made his way out, he was surprised when he saw another Tentatek Splattershot user.  It was too late to hide in the ink as they splatted him.  In the surprise, Dalton and Eella turned around and splatted the user back.  Harrison had only managed to catch a glimpse of the user: glasses, gray t-shirt with long sleeve white shirt, purple sneakers and forest-green tentahair peeking out from the orange ink.  As he landed at spawn, he didn’t head back for the middle section.  He knew where the other team member was as he’d seen Donovan show up to join the party at the middle.

Squiding to the section between the two bases, he leaped out and threw two bombs down, covering the orange in blue enough to hide him.  Harrison waited a moment before the green-eyed boy showed up, starting to splat the random blue.  Popping out himself, he aimed and threw a suction bomb again, startling the blue boy.

“Don’t even think about covering it,” Harrison warned him, his Splash-o-matic aimed and ready.  The boy aimed his Splattershot Pro at Harrison, but Harrison could see he was shaking.  This must’ve been one of his first matches and it didn’t seem like the Tentatek Splattershot girl was his friend.

Squinting his eyes, Harrison studied the boy quickly.  He was timid, gentle-spoken, and perhaps a bit shy.  Using the type of weapon that he was, Harrison could tell he must’ve been a good player.  Maybe his timidness came from using the Pro; it might be his first time.  Harrison hesitated as he lowered his Splash-o-matic from aiming right at the boy.

“Best way to use that gun.  See an enemy, shoot where they’ll be heading.  Block off their way of escape to make them jump so you get a better shot at them in the air rather than the ink they’re in.  Get them to stop moving, you have your splat,” Harrison told him quickly.

“Wha…what?” the boy stammered.

“It’s your first time using that weapon, correct?” Harrison asked.  The boy nodded, still shaking.  “Follow what I just said and test it on me.  You only have a few moments to get it right.  Ready?”

“Uh…” the boy started but Harrison was gone.  As he tried to get back toward the pathway, there was orange ink splatted in front of him.  He still wanted to get to the hallway so he jumped over the ink but there was more next to it.  He got stuck as he tried to pull against the ink, the sticky feeling causing his shoes to stay in place.  In the last second, Harrison was blasted by the boy behind him.  In his last moments before he respawned, Harrison saw the boy perk up and smile.

When the teams were pulled together, Judd stood in front of them.  On the board behind him was a bird’s-eye view of the map.  There was slightly bluer than there was orange but at the bottom middle part, between the two bases, there was a distinct orange blast.  Harrison smiled as he glanced to the blue boy, who was smiling at that section.  Judd declared the Blue team the winners though, with a win of 65% to 35%.

As the colored ink on the tentahair started falling off of everyone’s heads, Callee immediately went over to Donovan and Steph, congratulating them on trying so hard.  Dalton and Eella spent some time chatting with the other Inkling girl; Harrison overheard the name Allie as he walked over the Inkling boy.  The green-eyed boy looked up at Harrison, a mixture of wonder and questioning in his gaze.

“Why did you help me?” the green-eyed boy asked.

“Because you didn’t know how to use your weapon properly.  The Splattershot Pro isn’t for inking everything to the best of its ability; it’s used to powerhouse other weapons out of business.  It deals just over half of one’s ‘health’ in one shot and instant respawn in two.  I know you were trying to cover as much ground as possible to get your Inkstrike but you cover more ground with splats than you do with normal fire,” Harrison stated.  With this information, the green-eyed boy looked bewildered at how much he knew.  Harrison sighed as he rubbed his brow.  “Do you know what the training facility is?  You should try it.  It gives you plenty of info about your weapon when you test it.”

“O-Oh!  I’ll make sure I try that, mister,” the green-eyed boy replied, straightening up.

“Don’t call me ‘mister’.  It’s Harrison,” Harrison replied coolly as he put his Splash-o-matic around his back.

“Well, m-my name is Fen!” the boy exclaimed, with a smile.  He was beaming as he looked at Harrison but all Harrison could do was muster a sympathetic “hm”.

“You’re probably more used to a Splattershot than the Pro and if you want to cover more area, you should look into Rollers.  Course, it’s all your preference but if you find something you work better with, keep trying it,” Harrison told him.  Fen nodded quickly.

“Right!  I’ll make sure I try that training facility,” Fen said.  “How…how did you know I didn’t know how to use the Splattershot Pro?”  Harrison hesitated as he thought for a moment.

“Because you were too trained on one area and you were using the one area as a practicing place during a real match,” Harrison told him.

“Whoa…you could tell that much?” Fen asked.  Harrison nodded.

“Comes with the practice with each of the weapons.  Fumbled a bit on them myself but learned how to use each one properly with the training area and tests in the field afterward,” Harrison replied.  He looked up to see Callee coming over to chat.

“Who’s your new friend, Harry?” Callee asked, her hands behind her head.

“Don’t call me that… Honestly, we’re not kids anymore,” Harrison replied, covering his eyes.

“Hi, my name is Fen!” Fen said cheerfully.  Harrison moved away to walk towards the girl named Allie.

“Hey, you kinda caught me by surprise earlier,” Harrison said as he approached her.

“I do that,” Allie replied, shaking her head to get the ink out of her tentahair.

“Have to admit though, you did a pretty good job for your team,” Harrison said, crossing his arms in front of him.

“Thanks,” Allie said as she swung her Tentatek Splattershot behind her.  “So did you.  You always go into the front lines for your team?”

“It’s what I do best.  Get in, splat and get out,” Harrison replied.

“Hm…interesting tactic.  I’ll have to keep it in mind if I go up against you next time,” Allie chuckled as she walked away from the rig to the tea kettle.  Looking back, Harrison realized everyone was gearing up to head back to the locker rooms.  Harrison could tell that Callee had made two new “friends” with that match and he couldn’t help but feel the same way.  Fen and Allie had done well and the only one that had really complained had, once again, been Donovan.  Harrison wasn’t sure if Fen would be asking for help a lot in the future but, although he was telling himself he wouldn’t want to, Harrison agreed ahead of time to help the green-eyed, green-haired kid.

“Come on, Harrison!  I’m starving!  Let’s get something to eat!” Callee called to him.

“Yeah, I’m coming, I’m coming,” Harrison called back, heading toward the tea kettle that would send him back to the locker room.
I managed to type up another short story about Splatoon characters!!  =D  Someone had asked for a look inside how Harrison actually reacted to everything so I made sure my next short story would be from his perspective.  Hope this gives you a nice insight into Harrison's character.  ^^

I also hope I portrayed everyone's character correctly.  If I didn't, I sincerely apologize.  ;w;

Next up will be a backstory for Dalton, as per requested by my Marie, Applefrost-of-FC:heart:
